Dance and Tech Workshops at Creative Edge Center for the Arts
CECA is providing a series of dance workshops for all levels this summer. From generic Musical Theater Dance to Introductory Tap and work on Laps and Turns, CECA has all of your dance needs to prepare for the coming Colonial Players season. We will utilize ALL of these skills in our spring musical, "Newsies."
All sessions are 6 weeks and begin the week of June 21.
Musical Theater Dance
Beginner Musical Theater Jazz - (Wed, 6:00 - 7:00) - $90 - for students with no formal dance training. This high energy class will teach you about dance techniques as well as how to find your character in choreography. This class is perfect for students who want to improve in the dancing for musical theater shows.
Intermediate Musical Theater Jazz - (Wed, 7:00 - 8:00) - $90 - for students with 2+ years of formal dance training. The class will move at a faster pace and will focus on learning choreography quickly for auditions.
Tap
Beginner Broadway Tap - (Wed, 7:00 - 8:00) - $90 - for students who may have never tapped before. This class will teach you everything you need to know for a foundation in tap. the class will work learning rhythms, how to execute clean sounds and give you all the basics for learning choreography for a show. Each week we will work on a small combination to help prepare for future auditions.
Intermediate Broadway Tap (Wed, 6:00 - 7:00) - $90 - an extension of the beginner class, but requires that students have 2+ years prior experience and a strong understanding of all tap foundational steps.
Leaps and Turns (Tue, 7:00 - 8:00) - $90 - is a mixed level class where students work on improving their pirouettes as well as all other types of turns used today in choreography. We teach the dynamics of a good leap and how to improve power and length in all types of jumps.
Behind the Curtain (Tue, 5:00 - 8:00) - 6 weeks - $125 - Perfect for the student that wants to sharpen their backstage skills or learn some new ones. This course covers Stage Tools, Set Construction, Lighting Design, Prop Building, & Costume Basics.
