AUDITIONS - READ THIS FIRST
Colonial Players is filled with talented singers, dancers, musicians and performers—and we want to showcase as many of those talents as possible in our fall production of FAME.
Set at a performing arts high school in New York City, FAME celebrates students who are passionate about the arts and determined to find their voices. Our production will reflect that same spirit by creating opportunities for students to contribute through acting, dance, singing, instrumental performance, songwriting and more.
We also need our dedicated crew members to help bring this story to life through construction, scenic design, costumes, hair, makeup, marketing, lights, sound and more.
The audition and registration process will take place in two phases.
Phase One: Pre-Submissions and Required Registration
-
Required Registration: All students interested in supporting FAME—whether onstage or behind the scenes—must complete the registration form by Sunday, September 6. Registration instructions are at the bottom of this document.
-
Instrumental Performance Videos: Students may submit a video highlighting their musical talents on one or more instruments. These videos will help us identify students who may participate in the music-school audition sequence and perform as part of the orchestra. Instrumentalists may also be featured throughout the show in other moments where live music can help bring the world of FAME to life.
-
Original Music Submissions: Students may submit original songs that are fun, upbeat and inspired by club or dance music. We currently see at least three opportunities within the show to feature original music, with room to develop even more. One of those opportunities will involve the cast collaborating to write lyrics for an original song. This is an exciting opportunity for students to contribute as composers, songwriters, lyricists and musicians—not just performers. All instrumental videos and original songs must be submitted by Friday, September 4.
Phase Two: Live Auditions and Callbacks
-
Open auditions will take place after school on Tuesday, September 8. The open audition will include acting and dance. Monologues and callback scene are linked on this page. Students should familiarize themselves with all audition materials before September 8. Scores from the open auditions will help determine callbacks.
-
Callbacks will take place immediately following the open audition. We could ask you to perform the callback OR open call materials at this time. We encourage students to be as familiar with all the materials as possible. Break a leg!
Whether you are interested in acting, dancing, singing, playing an instrument, writing music or contributing in another creative way, we want to hear from you.
We are excited to see what you bring to FAME and to create a production that celebrates the many ways Colonial Players students make music, tell stories and take the stage.
